FEAR NOT - Day 6

God Is Near

Fear has a way of making God feel distant. In painful seasons, we often wonder where He is. When prayers seem unanswered and emotions feel overwhelming, it can appear as though God is silent or absent from our struggle.

But Scripture reminds us of a powerful truth:

Psalm 34:18 — The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Notice the verse does not say God is near only when we are strong, confident, or emotionally steady. It says He is near to the brokenhearted.

God does not withdraw from wounded people. He draws close to them.

Fear often convinces us we must hide our weakness, clean ourselves up, or somehow become stronger before approaching God. But throughout Scripture, we see the opposite. God consistently moves toward the hurting, the weary, and the overwhelmed.

The moments when you feel weakest are often the moments God is working closest.

Being brokenhearted does not mean you are abandoned. Feeling crushed does not mean God has forgotten you. Sometimes His presence is most evident, not in seasons of comfort, but in seasons where we realize how deeply we need Him.

God is not intimidated by your anxiety, your questions, or your emotional exhaustion. He is near in the middle of them.

Fear says, “God is far away.” Truth says, “The Lord is near.”

Reflection:
Have you been interpreting your pain as distance from God? What would change if you believed He was especially near to you in this season?

Prayer:
Father, thank You for drawing near to the brokenhearted. When fear and pain make me feel alone, remind me that You have not abandoned me. Help me sense Your presence even in difficult moments. Strengthen my heart with the truth that You are close, compassionate, and faithful. In Jesus’ name, amen.
