FEAR NOT - Day 20

Peace Through Surrender

Fear often grows because we keep carrying burdens we were never meant to hold alone. Anxiety convinces us that everything depends on us — our ability to fix problems, control outcomes, and prepare for every possible scenario. The result is emotional exhaustion and constant unrest.

But Scripture gives us a different invitation.

Peter writes:

1 Peter 5:7 — Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Notice the word casting. This is not passive language. It describes intentionally handing something over to someone stronger and more capable of carrying it.

Many people pray about anxiety while continuing to hold onto it internally. True surrender means releasing control and trusting God with what we cannot manage ourselves.

Fear says, “You have to carry this alone.”
God says, “Give it to Me.”

Surrender is difficult because we often confuse it with weakness. In reality, surrender is an act of trust. It is acknowledging that God is wiser, stronger, and more faithful than we are. Peace begins to grow when we stop trying to control everything and start trusting the One who already holds all things together.

Peter also reminds us why we can surrender our anxieties: “because He cares for you.”

God is not distant or indifferent to your struggle. He cares deeply about what burdens your heart. The invitation to surrender is rooted in His compassion and love.

You were never meant to carry the full weight of life on your own shoulders.

Fear tightens its grip when we cling to control. Peace grows when we place our burdens into God’s hands.

Reflection:
What burdens or anxieties have you been trying to carry alone? What would it look like for you to truly surrender those things to God today?

Prayer:
Father, help me stop carrying burdens You never asked me to hold alone. Teach me to surrender my fears, worries, and anxieties into Your hands. Remind me that You care deeply for me and are faithful in every situation. Fill my heart with peace as I learn to trust You more fully each day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
