FEAR NOT - Day 18

Strength for Today
Fear often overwhelms us by pulling our minds into the future. We worry about tomorrow’s problems, next month’s uncertainty, and situations that have not even happened yet. Anxiety tries to convince us we will not have the strength to handle what lies ahead.
But God does not ask us to carry tomorrow today.
In the middle of grief and hardship, Jeremiah writes these powerful words:
Lamentations 3:22-23 — His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Notice the phrase: new every morning.
God gives grace for today’s burdens today. Tomorrow’s mercy will arrive tomorrow. Fear exhausts us because it constantly tries to make us live in problems that do not yet exist. But God’s strength is not distributed months in advance. It is given daily.
Israel experienced this principle in the wilderness when God provided manna one day at a time. Why? Because He was teaching them dependence.
Fear says, “What if you cannot handle tomorrow?”
Truth says, “God will meet you there too.”
Many of us are emotionally worn down because we are mentally carrying future burdens God never asked us to hold today. Jesus Himself taught us not to worry about tomorrow because each day has enough trouble of its own.
God’s faithfulness is not running out. His mercy is not depleted. His strength is not limited. Every morning brings fresh grace for whatever lies ahead.
You may not have strength for the next year, but through Christ, you can have strength for today.
Reflection:
What future worries have been consuming your thoughts lately? How might your anxiety lessen if you trusted God to give you daily strength instead of demanding future certainty?
Prayer:
Father, help me stop carrying tomorrow’s burdens today. Teach me to trust Your daily faithfulness and rest in the mercy You provide each morning. When fear pulls my mind into the future, remind me that Your grace will meet me there when the time comes. Give me strength for today and peace for this moment. In Jesus’ name, amen.
