FEAR NOT - Day 17
![]()
The Mind Set on Christ
Fear often begins with where the mind settles. Whatever consistently occupies our thoughts will eventually shape our emotions, perspective, and spiritual health. A mind consumed by anxiety naturally produces unrest, but a mind centered on Christ produces something very different.
Paul writes in Romans 8:
Romans 8:6 — For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
Notice Paul uses intentional language: to set the mind. This speaks of direction and focus. Our minds will naturally drift toward fear, negativity, and worldly thinking if left unchecked. That is why we must intentionally direct our thoughts toward the things of God.
The flesh gravitates toward self-preservation, control, worry, and fear. It constantly asks, “What if things go wrong?” But the Spirit leads us toward trust, truth, and peace rooted in God’s presence.
Fear says, “You need to carry this alone.”
The Spirit says, “God is with you.”
Fear says, “Your future is uncertain.”
The Spirit says, “Your life is in God’s hands.”
Peace is not produced by obsessing over every possible outcome. Peace grows when the mind learns to remain fixed on Christ instead of constantly revolving around fear.
This is not passive. It requires daily surrender. We must intentionally fill our minds with Scripture, prayer, worship, truth, and reminders of God’s faithfulness. Whatever dominates the mind will eventually shape the heart.
A fearful mind produces turmoil. A Christ-centered mind produces life and peace.
Reflection:
What has your mind been fixed on lately? Are your thoughts drawing you closer to fear or closer to Christ?
Prayer:
Father, help me set my mind on You instead of allowing fear to control my thinking. Redirect my thoughts toward truth, peace, and confidence in Your faithfulness. Teach me to daily focus my heart and mind on Christ so that Your peace would steady me in every season. In Jesus’ name, amen.
