FEAR NOT - Day 14

Truth Over Feelings
Feelings are powerful, but they are not always trustworthy. Fear especially has a way of shaping emotions that feel completely real in the moment. Anxiety can convince us we are abandoned, hopeless, unsafe, or beyond help even when none of those things are true.
That is why we cannot build our lives solely on emotions.
Jeremiah writes:
Jeremiah 17:9 — The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
This verse reminds us that human emotions and instincts can mislead us. Feelings are real, but they are not always reliable indicators of truth.
Fear says, “God has left you.”
Truth says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Fear says, “There is no hope.”
Truth says, “God is working all things together for good.”
Fear says, “You are trapped forever.”
Truth says, “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.”
One of the greatest spiritual disciplines is learning to let God’s truth lead our emotions instead of allowing emotions to define reality. This does not mean ignoring pain or pretending emotions do not matter. God cares deeply about what we feel. But feelings make poor foundations for faith because they constantly fluctuate.
Truth remains steady even when emotions are unstable.
Many people live emotionally exhausted because they constantly follow wherever their feelings lead. God calls us to anchor ourselves in something stronger — His unchanging Word.
Feelings may shift from day to day, but God’s character, promises, and faithfulness never change.
Reflection:
What emotions or fears have been shaping your perspective lately? Are you allowing feelings to define reality, or are you anchoring yourself in God’s truth?
Prayer:
Father, help me trust Your truth more than my fluctuating emotions. When fear and anxiety distort my perspective, remind me that Your Word remains steady and reliable. Teach me to anchor my heart in Your promises instead of being controlled by feelings. Strengthen my faith and renew my mind with truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
