FEAR NOT - Day 13
![]()
Remember What God Has Done
Fear has a short memory. In difficult seasons, it causes us to forget God’s faithfulness and focus entirely on present problems. Anxiety magnifies what is wrong while minimizing everything God has already done.
In Psalm 77, the writer wrestles honestly with fear, discouragement, and doubt. At one point he even asks:
Psalm 77:9 — Has God forgotten to be gracious?
It is a raw and emotional question. In moments of suffering, many people silently wonder the same thing. Has God forgotten me? Has His mercy run out? Does He still care?
But the psalm does not end there.
The writer makes a deliberate shift. Instead of remaining trapped in fear, he begins remembering the works and faithfulness of God. He recalls God’s miracles, His power, and His past deliverance.
Why? Because remembering strengthens trust.
Fear tells us that God has abandoned us because of what we currently feel. Faith looks backward and remembers that God has carried us before and He’ll carry us again.
One of the enemy’s greatest strategies is convincing us to interpret temporary struggles as permanent abandonment. But throughout Scripture, God repeatedly calls His people to remember His faithfulness.
When fear becomes loud, remember the prayers God has answered. Remember the seasons He sustained you. Remember the doors He opened, the strength He provided, and the grace He showed you when you thought you would not make it.
The same God who was faithful then is faithful now.
Reflection:
What past moments of God’s faithfulness have you forgotten in your current struggle? How might remembering His past provision strengthen your trust today?
Prayer:
Father, when fear clouds my thinking, help me remember Your faithfulness. Remind me of the ways You have sustained, provided for, and carried me through difficult seasons before. Strengthen my faith by helping me look back and recognize that You have never abandoned me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
